The purpose of the project is to investigate possible causes of increased leaching of arsenic in backfilled soil after soil washing and to understand and to propose measures to prevent this.
The intention is, among other things, to investigate whether the addition of binding phases can reduce the leaching of arsenic to the groundwater after soil washing and to evaluate whether the removal of fine soil fractions affects the soil's ability to bind arsenic. The project will last for three years.
