This project will enable contribution to worldwide Net Zero goals by reducing the cost, complexity and impact of monitoring of energy consumption issues in buildings.
Buildings use about 40% of global energy and 25% of global water \[UN Energy Program\]. They represent significant energy saving opportunities, especially as performance levels are frequently far below theoretical efficiency.
Sensors are being used by companies to identify issues that can trigger interventions. Whilst the sensors can be small and low cost, they often require gateway infrastructure to be deployed on-site.
We have developed a novel low-cost, low-impact cloud connectivity service that enables sensors to efficiently and transparently leverage nearby smartphones as Bluetooth network infrastructure instead. Companies are interested in applying this to building monitoring.
This project will develop and demonstrate the feasibility of applying our technology to building environments for some first customers, providing evidence for adoption, catalyse wider commercialisation and contribute towards global Net Zero goals.
