TOUCH XR: An Arts-led Health Simulation Training Pack (scaling empathy through patient-centred Affective Touch)

TOUCH XR by WTD Ltd. brings together multi-award winning artistic and technological innovation to explore how arts-based methods combined with XR technologies can ensure effective empathy training for nurses, and positive mental health outcomes for patients.

WTD Ltd. is a joint venture that builds on a successful feasibility study demonstrating the effectiveness of arts-based methods combined with XR in improving empathy skills, conducted by University of Greenwich and digital arts and theatre organisation ZU-UK. This new organisation has been set up to commercialise use of creative XR Image/Sound content in conjunction with bespoke storytelling based on lived patient experience, to address gaps in current healthcare training offers towards empathy and use of affective touch.

WTD Ltd. will develop TXR Training Packs for healthcare education institutions for contextualisation of their simulation-based clinical skills training, with a focus on improving students' empathy skills and use of 'affective touch' via two innovative products:

* Bespoke instruction-based creative storytelling content via a mobile app, adding XR via bone-conducting headphones to existing healthcare simulation training infrastructure.

* Consultancy services for university simulation centres on empathy-focused contextualisation of their simulated practice learning hours, based on our expertise in arts-led immersive storytelling and lived experience research design.
