Dry Battery Electrode (DBE) coating (solvent-free coating) is the future of EV battery manufacturing thanks to the significant carbon reduction, CAPEX and OPEX savings that it will enable. Countries deploying DBE coating in their BEV supply chain will be at a strategic advantage both from a cost point perspective but also a sustainability perspective as embedded carbon emissions of batteries will shortly be regulated as part of the EU Battery Regulation.
Anaphite's technology is focussed on the processing of electrode materials to produce well-structured, homogeneous dry powders (Dry Coating Precursors) that are tailor formulated for DBE coating. Our Dry Coating Precursors enable customers to move from energy intensive wet (solvent) coating to more efficient dry (solvent-free) coating without impacting battery performance.
This Feasibility study will enable Anaphite to evaluate several possible business models for implementing our technology in the UK to serve the UK market. We will develop a comprehensive UK-focussed business case to support our scale-up and subsequent investment decision.
This project represents an opportunity for the UK to position itself as the world leader in DBE coating by scaling and implementing Anaphite's Dry Coating Precursor technology and gain significant cost advantage, in particular over North America, the rest of Europe and Asia where Anaphite's technology would otherwise be first deployed at scale.
