Grant Description

PROJECT SUMMARY This proposal request is an Administrative Supplement to provide Infrastructure Support for an ongoing NEI funded RO1 Research Project.

Funding is requested to replace a Leica cryostat that was originally purchased by NEI funds that was supplied to us as an Administrative Supplement. This is a standard use piece of equipment in most molecular and cell biology research labs. Due to leaking of gas the cost of repair will be more than buying a new cryostat.

The replacement of this cryostat by the stat-of the-art equipment would greatly enhance our efficiency to successfully carry out all of the aims in the parent RO1 grant. In addition, three other NEI investigators (Drs. Alexander Ljubimov, Mehrnoosh Saghizadeh, and Yaron Rabinowitz) will use this cryostat for their research.

Thus, a total of 9 RO1 will be using this instrument for their research.
