The Chinese Embassy donated medical supplies to the government of Jamaica on December 6, 2023. The medical supplies were intended to combat dengue fever during a shortage of medical supplies.
The supplies included two defibrillators, 15 video laryngoscopes with C blade, 28 syringe pumps, two physiological monitors, eight cardiac monitors, 15 phototherapy lamps, and five infant warmers, and were valued at USD 500,000. Most of the supplies were intended for the Bustamante Hospital for Children in the capital city of Kingston.
According to the Chinese ambassador, the donation was a result of a 2022 video conference between China and Caribbean officials.
