On November 25, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Kiribati held a handover ceremony for a cash grant of RMB 700,000 to support the construction of a new medical clinic in Betio.

The funding, provided by the Chinese Embassy in Kiribati, was presented in the form of an official check to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS).
