In 2003, ICBC and Bank of China (Hong Kong) contribute to USD 375 million syndicated term loan for the Government of Malaysia On or around March 24, 2003, the Government of Malaysia signed a $375 million term loan agreement for unspecified purposes with a syndicate of banks. The loan was arranged by Barclays Capital, Citigroup/SSB, Maybank, Standard Chartered and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp.

United Overseas Bank contributed $100 million, while OCBC contributed $80 million, Bank of China (Hong Kong) contributed $50 million, and ICBC contributed $50 million.
