Grant Description

A USTDA grant is partially funding a feasibility study (Study) to assess technical, financial and economic aspects of a 78 megawatt mobile gas-fired thermal power plant, including associated transmission lines and a gas pipeline spur (Project), in the Chokwe District of Gaza Province in Mozambique. The Project is being developed by Kuikila Investments, Lda., an independent power developer in Mozambique.

The Study is being undertaken by the U.S. firm Delphos International, Ltd. of Washington, D.C.

The Study includes a final environmental and social impact assessment, final grid study, revisions and finalization of the tolling and other legal agreements, insurance program design, and financial modeling.

The Project will directly address Mozambique's power infrastructure needs through increased generation and new transmission infrastructure.
