Grant Description

A USTDA grant to Backbone Connectivity Network (Nigeria) Limited, a privately-owned company in Nigeria, funds a feasibility study ("Study") for the development of a subsea internet cable branching unit and cable landing station on Bonny Island, along with terrestrial network infrastructure deployment and a Tier 3 data center ("Project").

The Study will analyze the technical and commercial viability of the Project, along with a situation analysis, the development of an infrastructure map and a market demand analysis.

Successful implementation of the Project will provide much-needed redundancy of telecommunications infrastructure in the South-South region of Nigeria. U.S. firm HIP Consult Inc. is carrying out the Study on a sole-source basis.
