Grant Description

A USTDA grant is partially funding a feasibility study to assess the viability of a combined-cycle gas power plant of up to 450 megawatts and associated natural gas infrastructure at the existing Kelvin Power Station near Johannesburg in Gauteng Province, South Africa.

The Project is expected to serve as an anchor for gas demand in Gauteng Province; therefore, successful implementation may lead to the upgrading of at least four other coal-fired power plants in Gauteng Province to convert to gas. The Grantee is NOVO Energy (Pty) Ltd (Grantee) and the U.S. firm EHS Support.

LLC of Pittsburgh, PA will be undertaking the feasibility study.
