Grant Description

This $695,000 grant to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) supported a feasibility study to evaluate the technical, financial, environmental, and other critical aspects of implementing advanced metering infrastructure in Ekurhuleni, South Africa.

The study included the development of a smart metering implementation roadmap and the design of a smart metering pilot project.

The implementation of advanced metering infrastructure in Ekurhuleni will promote increased energy savings for consumers while at the same time improving EMMs operational efficiency, customer service, and electricity supply optimization.
