This grant of $195,000 for Phase I of a feasibility study on the proposed Housing and Mortgage program in Afghanistan evaluates the technical and economic feasibility of building 10,000 new housing units in the outskirts of Kabul and offering a 15 to 20-year mortgage program to low and middle income households.
The creation of an affordable housing market and mortgage industry will enable low and middle income Afghanis to own their own homes and give families a potential growth asset and a vested interest in having a stable government.
