Grant Description

USTDA support of $864,002 funds a feasibility study for an expanded Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Facility for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

The Study develops a market assessment and business plan for PIA's expanded MRO facility, as well as the necessary technical requirement and cost estimates. The comprehensive facility will be able to service engines, landing gears, airframes, and aircraft components.

Developing this updated MRO facility through USTDA funds will help to further strengthen the U.S. commercial aviation presence in Pakistan that should lead to significant U.S. exports in equipment and services.

This USTDA-funded Study also has the potential to have a significant developmental impact in Pakistan through crucial infrastructure improvements, human capacity building through the Study's training/capacity-building component, and technology transfer from exposure to advanced aviation safety and testing technologies.
