Grant Description

This grant partially funds a feasibility study to assess the technical, financial and economic viability of a wind power plant of 30 to 50 megawatts along with energy storage of 20 MW (40-80 MWh), as well as associated transmission and interconnection infrastructure near Praia da Rocha in Inhambane Province, Mozambique (Project).

The grantee is Ventos de Inhambane, S.A. and the U.S. firm Delphos International, Ltd. will be undertaking the feasibility study.

This will be among Mozambique's first utility-scale wind power plants, thus helping to demonstrate the cost and performance of wind energy for the country, as well as help improve access to electricity in Mozambique.
