Grant Description

This grant partially funds a feasibility study to assess the technical, financial, and economic viability of a wind power plant of 130 megawatts (MW) to be developed in two phases of 65 MW each, along with energy storage of 10-20 MW, as well as associated transmission and interconnection infrastructure in Manhia district in Maputo Province, Mozambique.

This will be among Mozambiques first utility-scale wind power plants, thus helping to demonstrate the cost and performance of wind energy for the country, as well as to improve access to electricity in Mozambique.
