Grant Description

A USTDA grant funds a feasibility study (Study) to assess the economic and technical viability of Ilitha Telecommunications (Pty) Ltd's expansion of fixed wireless access network infrastructure in township communities with unreliable electricity access across South Africa.

The Study would include a pilot of U.S. company MeshPlusPlus Inc.'s solar-powered Wi-Fi solution in Mandela Park, a township in the O.R. Tambo District of the Eastern Cape Province. U.S. firm Vernonburg Group LLC will carry out the Study on a sole-source basis.
