Grant Description

This grant funds a feasibility study (FS) to support the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) in assessing the viability of acquiring a fleet of low or zero-emissions shunting locations and developing related charging infrastructure to replace traditional diesel shunting locomotives in Thailand.

SRT seeks to acquire approximately 36 low or zero-emissions locomotives and related charging or fueling infrastructure for use in Bangkok and other stations and railyards throughout the country.

The FS will evaluate battery-electric and other low-emissions locomotive technology options and develop the technical specifications for the required battery charging or refueling infrastructure.
