Evaluation of the Global Conservation Program (GCP)

This evaluation of approximately 10-years of support for biodiversity conservation activities through NGO partners AWF, CI, WWF, TNC, WCS, and EWV was completed in May 2008.

ARDs evaluation team used a participatory process to develop an evaluation framework and methodology with full and active participation of USAID and NGO partner staff representatives.

The methodology used a combination of a web-based survey, site visits, and interviews to gather information about the effectiveness of this program during its two 5-year phases.

Preliminary findings of the evaluation were presented to USAID and GCP partner representatives in February, and a draft evaluation report was submitted in March.

The final evaluation report, including recommendations for future programs that seek to achieve objectives similar to those of the GCP, was completed in May.

Evaluation findings and recommendations were presented to USAID and a public audience, and a briefing was held for the Assistant Administrator of the USAID/EGAT Bureau and the Agency Environmental Coordinator.
