To enhance the quality of education in the country, USAID/Dominican Republic implemented the Effective Schools Program.
It focuses on improving the quality of primary education (grades one through four) and has three components: 1) Education management to strengthen school governance practices. 2) In-service training and curriculum development provided to existing teachers in participating elementary schools to achieve significant improvements in reading, writing, and math. 3) Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to provide valid, reliable feedback about the program that supports changes, if warranted.
