The Coastal Community Adaptation Project (C-CAP) builds the resilience of coastal communities in the Pacific to withstand more intense and frequent weather events and ecosystem degradation in the short term (erosion, coral damage, flooding, drought, salt-water intrusion), and sea level rise in the long term by: (1) climate proofing small-scale community infrastructure such as coastal protection and rainwater catchment systems; (2) building local capacity for disaster prevention and preparedness; and (3) building national capacity for climate change governance.
C-CAP will target 77 communities, which may be adjusted to reflect realities on the ground and current unknowns.
Up to twelve Pacific Island countries will benefit from C-CAP: Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
