Research and science during the pandemic - a film and media project

In a magnificent film and media project, a deep insight is given into a unique chapter in the history of researchers. During an intense and dramatic time, many researchers work day and night.

All with the goal of providing answers to the new difficult and life-changing questions that have arisen in the wake of the pandemic. They know that there is an opportunity to gain power over the corona. It is a battle against the clock, in unknown terrain. Characterized by curiosity and thirst for knowledge.

In close-up, we follow them - the researchers, the experts, and the interpreters.

Those who are obsessed with finding the answers, and giving us forecasts, guidance, care, vaccines, and future hopes.In Sweden and the rest of the world, researchers have interrupted their usual ongoing work and instead started studies that are directly linked to the new virus. Many billions have been invested in research projects.

But what benefit does the public have from all the new findings and discoveries, what do the citizens get for their money?

That is the central question and ambition of this project: to spread knowledge and learning about world-leading Swedish Covid research.Our host Johan Wester draws from himself, his own thoughts and questions, and takes the viewer to meetings with people and researchers who are affected in different ways by Covid 19.

In parallel with these strong, gripping stories, Johan meets world-leading scientists- and women obsessed with finding the answers in the wake of the Covid pandemic. Johan skillfully connects the research with ordinary people´s stories.

He puts them in a context, and then makes the context understandable and draws conclusions.In a feasibility study (funded by the Swedish Research Council, Vinnova, Forte, and Formas), we have mapped a total of 28 different research projects that are relevant and particularly interesting.

Now it´s time for the next step: to document and tell about this crucial research.The result is an entertaining, current, and urgent film and media project about Covidresearch today. Told to the general public in an innovative way. We expect an audience of millions. The project is particularly well suited to be versioned for different formats and platforms.
