Digital calculation and follow-up of districts´ climate impact.

The digitalization of our society that is now underway provides new opportunities for calculations, analyzes and follow-ups that have previously been difficult or very resource-intensive to carry out.

This means that we can handle society´s need for more housing and the cities need to grow -  while at the same time reducing climate impact.

To do this, we need to change the way we work and take advantage of the new opportunities that digitalization provides by getting data of the consequences the areas and districts we build and plan for have.

With the digital model we want to  develop, municipalities and developers can already in the planning of a district calculate the climate impact the district will have in both the construction phase and the user phase.

This means that you can already in the sketch stage adjust the proposal and thereby ensure that you reach set climate goals.

The model can then be used when the district is developed to follow up the climate impact.Today, the change in greenhouse gas emissions is mostly measured at the municipal level. The climate impact of a district is therefore difficult to follow. In this project, we want to develop a digital model for climate calculations of planning proposals for districts.

We start from indicators, methods and data flows that have been developed in previous projects and achieve a high degree of usability with a digital working method.The purpose of developing the model is to help municipalities build knowledge and insights of what measures in urban planning that needs to be taken to reduce climate impact and achieve national and municipal goals.

The model will also show in which areas we need to strengthen our work towards the climate goals.

An additional purpose is to start mapping out how we can integrate the digital model into existing digital tools in the planning and construction process and to broaden the model by adding climate impact from more priority areas.
