Does the neighborhood of upbringing influence health, education and income in adulthood?
The question is answered based on sophisticated geographical analysis using unique geocoded longitudinal microdata at the address-level for the city of Landskrona, 1904-1967, linked to Swedish national registers, 1968-2015.
We measure the conditions of individuals growing up in the city and study outcomes in adulthood regardless of where in Sweden they reside.
The effects of the neighborhood´s socio-economic status on health and socio-economic outcomes are analyzed with regard to both family background and the social and physical characteristics of the neighborhood. The project is unique in its kind by the combination of a long time perspective and detailed neighborhood measures.
