Purpose and goal:
The aim of the project is to reduce carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere through a transformation of Swedish agriculture. We have launched a prototype of a platform that brings together businesses that want to pay for carbon sequestration with farmers who implement carbon sequestering and soil improvement measures. It has been developed in collaboration with over 70 stakeholders to meet a wide range of needs, and it is aligned with international standards.
Expected results and effects:
Carbon sequestration methods have been applied to 42 pilot farms, different methods for measuring sequestered carbon have been tested and are used in calculation models for carbon sequestration. The platform prototype has been launched and is in use, knowledge dissemination and advice are requested and ongoing. Swedish companies, not just the food sector, are showing interest in investments in Swedish agriculture.
Svensk Kolinlagring is a trusted partner by various actors: farmers, researchers, authorities, advisors and investing businesses. Approach and implementation:
Through the work packages TEST, BUILD, THINK, PROTOTYPE, WORLD and LEAD, we have collaborated and developed our platform. We have worked with technical development, education, networking, measurements, calculations, business intelligence, lectures, farm visits and workshops. Relationship building is key, we place great emphasis on creating a good collaborative climate - thanks to good relationships, we were able to take the step to launch, despite uncertainties and risks.
