This research will analyze synergy, complementarity, or competition between development in district heating (DH) system and deep renovation of detached houses in Växjö and Kalmar (Sweden) and Ålesund (Norway), and will propose the coopetition strategies. Based on competitive, collaborative, or coopetition scenarios, the optimal energy system will be modeled.
The model will capture the interaction effects of energy efficiency measures in the buildings and energy supply system and consider the effect of climate change scenarios. A digital twin platform will be used to visualize outputs and scenario analysis at a large city scale.
Based on the above analyses, coopetition based business model for DH companies and deep renovation companies will be developed and its sustainability aspect will be accessed using the Triple-layer CANVAS model.
A transdisciplinary approach will be used bringing scientific knowledge from Academia (Linnaeus University and The Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and societal knowledge (DH companies Växjö Energi, Kalmar Energi; deep renovation company Klimatfastigheter Småland; simulation/visualization company Augmentcity; and Homeowners Association Villaägarna Kronoberg) to co-create the solution-oriented knowledge.
The research results will be instrumental for the societal partners of this project, which can be replicated in many other cities having DH systems.
