Grant Description

Forskning om funktionshinder pågår (“Ongoing Disability Research”) has been issued quarterly since 1992.

In presenting current Swedish disability research to decision-makers, researchers, government agencies, NGOs and the public, the journal performs a key function. It reaches 4,600 adressees and reader survey have shown that the journal gets distributed furthur still.

Subscribers work in Swedish state agencies and higher education institutions (HEIs), libraries, schools, interest organisations and public services.

Other subscribers are students; local and regional government staff; people with a special interest in the disability area and press. The functional notion of reporters and researchers collaborating in a well-informed editorial team ensures good readability owing to the journal’s clear, topical content.

It covers published research in the disability field, from every subject area and Swedish HEI, and monitors research funded by FORTE.

The editorial policy prioritises current topics and nationwide subject, gender and geographical relevance. The journal is available as print edition and as a PDF file. It is adapted for users of reading aids.

Its content is thus adapted to technical aids catering for people with physical disabilities, dyslexia, blindness and other visual impairments. Every article starts with an introductory paragraph in easy-to-read Swedish. The percentage of digital subscribers is increasing substaintially.

All issues are available at cff.uu.se and in DiVA.The journal aspires to spread knowledge, in a readily accessible form, of disability research.

This ambition can help to bridge the gaps between research, policy and practice, which can make it easier for research results to benefit society.

Particular consideration of the clinical and practical usefulness of the research presented is a guiding principle in work on the journal.
