Grant Description

Äldre i Centrum presents aging research and and how its results can be used in practice.

The aim of the journal is to spread knowledge about healthy and non-healthy aging, and thus to support older people, decision makers and others within the field. The aging population makes the issues of the journal increasingly important, a fact that has become obvious with the covid-19 pandemic, that has highlighted the need for better knowledge on the lives of people 65+ in care and society. Each of the four annual issues presents a certain theme with articles written by researchers, the latest news in aging research, interviews with researchers, reportage on how the results are being used in practice, doctoral theses, book reviews by the researchers, book tips etc.

The scope of the magazine is naturally interdisciplinary. The edition amounts to approximately 2 500 copies, out of which 2 000 are subscriptions. Furthermore, articles and daily news are being published on the website www.aldreicentrum.se.

At our website, you can also read the magazine in pdf format, and find our podcast, that premiered in 2020.The target group consists of politicians, local officials and personnel in health and social care, researchers, students, older people and their relatives, and a general public interested in aging matters.

According to a reader survey (by SKOP) conducted in 2020, 94 percent of the readers rank the journal ”good” or ”very good”, and 99 percent think that it is reliable. Our aging society makes it even more important for science to reach out, in order to be able to meet the challenge in health and social care and to strive for a more healthy aging.

For many years Äldre i Centrum has received grants from Forte, and this support has been necessary to maintain editorial strength and quality.

We want to continue spreading the journal and its contents, both in print and in digital channels. Therefore we apply for an annual publishing grant of SEK 400 000.
