Private Sector R&D Investment

Since 2019, IVA has been running the project with support from, among others, Vinnova. The goal is to understand how Sweden can promote R&D investments.

The project has created annual R&D barometers based on surveys and in-depth interviews aimed at R&D managers. The questions deal with the view of the investment climate and how it can be improved.

The project will design policy proposals. The project improves the possibilities to understand the R&D development and makes it easier to design evidence-based proposals to increase investments in R&D. Discuss the development of R&D inv. Increase the understanding of what drives R&D inv. Produce policy-oriented proposals on how Swedish R&D inv. can increase. The project has been formed with a steering group, project manager. Two working groups have been launched: 1. expert group responsible for the relevance of the survey questions and the content of the survey. 2. a policy group that works to develop and produce policy proposals based on the results of the survey.

The goal is that the barometer will continue to be published annually for 10-years. The barometer and policy proposals are developed on the basis of the survey.
