This research project investigates how organizational culture is created and managed in relation to ongoing pressures of workplace digitalization.
As our working lives are increasingly intertwined with digital technology, the project aims to generate novel insights into the processes by which companies introduce and exploit digitalization in the work place, and the far-reaching impact these initiatives have on working conditions and organizational cultures.Whereas previous digitalization research is based on quantitative data sets or snippets of interview data that offer reductive and decontextualized knowledge about people in organizations, this project generates rich and nuanced knowledge about the complex connections between digitalization and organizational culture by conducting ethnographic fieldwork in two different corners of organizational life: in one tech company and one start-up hub.
This enables us to understand not only what people say they do but what they do and what it may feel like to do the kinds of things they do.
