The project evaluates and refines the CIK , a prototype for a circular kitchen with digital services for replacement and upgrading, developed in previous research in collaboration with industry. This highly innovative, system oriented and digitalised solution, does not exist on the market.
The project prepares for market introduction beyond 2025 based on product demonstration in real homes, production demonstration and cross-disciplinary system demonstration.
Fullscale testing throughout the whole value chain in a circular resource perspective, aims to develop technology, function, design and economy.
The project team consists of housing developer Jemmet, an interdisciplinary team at Chalmers, kitchen producer Nobia and appliance producer ASKO/ATAG, and HSB LL.
Result are scaled up and spread nationally and internationally, in new construction and renovation, with a long term goal to contribute to system change towards minimised resource use and climate impact within the building sector.
The kitchen is one of the most resource intensive functions in a home; with longer lifespan, reduced energy and material consumption, and adaptability for different user groups, the CIK project contributes to the National Research Programmes for Sustainable Spatial Planning and Climate with real life experience of circular transition, strengthened international competitiveness, and scientifically through integrated design processes, circular construction processes and sustainable transition.
