The transport sector´s climate target of 70% CO2 emissions reductions in 2010-2030 and climate neutrality in 2045 will not be achieved with current infrastructure planning and instruments.
The project develops and tests a concept and associated tools and processes necessary to shift car-based land use to sustainable land-use by developing and merging three components: (a) integrated collaborative planning processes that reduce conflicts between planning actors and policy areas, (b) methods to reduce car traffic while contributing to other sustainability objectives and (c) processes and tools to anchor the design, impact and implementation of these practices among local stakeholders and to secure the interests of different social groups. The project will develop integrated and coordinated planning processes in which the relevant planning actors propose solutions for which they currently have a limited or unclear mandate or directive.
Changes in land-use to reduce car traffic will be designed to reduce car traffic while meeting other sustainability objectives such as housing, employment and improving the urban environment and their impact will be calculated.
The project will develop and test processes and tools such as visualization to engage and ally with local stakeholders in the city such as business, associations, housing companies, schoolchildren, and the elderly.
