This project aims to directly address the needs expressed by participating companies, agencies, and organizations participating in the Climate Arena consortium (hosted by the Bolin Centre for Climate Research at Stockholm University) for better ways to analyze, compare and reduce the climatic impact of their activities.
Despite a number of international standards and collaborations being in place, many companies and organizations perceive that reporting their climate-related emissions is overly complex, confusing, and difficult to compare both within and between sectors.
We also lack fundamental knowledge about how multi-stakeholder processes work; these will be necessary in order to achieve a fossil-free society. This project aims to leverage an existing collaboration between actors in the public, private, research, and civil society sectors (the Climate Arena) to together develop simpler, more transparent and comparable methods by which to assess, report and compare the climate impacts of the organizations activities.
Through careful observation and analysis of the processes these groups use to arrive at these improved methods, we will simultaneously learn more about how multi-stakeholder, transdisciplinary processes work and how they may be optimized.
