Purpose and goal:
The goal of the project is an industrially anchored map and plan for action areas and resources (technology, competence, funding) needed to meet near and future requirements on sustainability data flows in the supply chain (life cycle data). Background: lifecycle data is increasingly requested, collected but still mainly compiled manually in many different forms and formats.
Supply chains are complex, with varying levels of expertise, capacity and willingness to share data. The preliminary study results in the identification, prioritization and structuring of target areas. Expected results and effects:
This feasibility study resulted in the identification of objectives, priorities and structures for implementation of projects improving monitoring and control of sustainability performance over product life cycles on industrial scales. Among expected effects: - Understanding of which life cycle data is needed in different decisions/functions within companies
- Internal company harmonization and efficiency - Synergies throughout the supply chain - More efficient exchange of data in supply chains and value networks - Preparedness for digitized data sharing and verification Approach and implementation:
Knowledge acquisition and compilation was led by researchers with extensive experience in life cycle data, and was coordinated by the Swedish Life Cycle Center. Work was divided into four WP: 1 Inventory of current & future expected practice; 2 Future analysis, trends in business & society; 3 Analysis of gaps & challenges; and 4 Synthesis & design of solution options & action plan.
Knowledge, state-of-the-art, challenges and eligibility requirements obtained via semi-structured workshops with representatives from various business functions in the participating companies.
