Purpose and goal:
The objective of this project is to develop methods for process design driven part quality and elaborates the view on process planning as a design activity where knowledge of process behaviors is a basis for evaluation and improvements of the manufacturing capability. In a well-designed process every single operation has a purpose in the sense of performing an intended function where product quality is achieved through careful design of the manufacturing process where systematic planning at all stages from design through manufacturing.
Expected results and effects:
The project work will result in new work methods for in-process part tolerance chain analysis and measurement method uncertainty assessment. The dissemination of project result includes knowledge transfer by education material for training, course modules for engineering education, networking and technology transfer within national network, the Geometry and Quality Cluster (of the Swedish Manufacturing R&D Clusters).
Approach and implementation: The project is organized in 4 Work Packages (WP) to reach specified project milestones (M): WP1 - Project management WP2 - Quality engineering method development M1 - Process design and evaluation methods developed, 2022 Q1 M2 - Measurement planning and process control methods developed, 2024 Q1
WP3 - Model based process design M3 - Finalised demonstrators, 2024 Q3 WP4 - Project result dissemination
