Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

To change care of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), from current long-term expensive treatment towards precision prevention and early curative care. More specifically, we aim to create an ecosystem of digital, diagnostic and treatment procedures that will enable a new and personalized approach to prevention of as yet chronic diseases, beginning with RA with potentials for expansion to other diseases.

Expected results and effects:

Our tools will provide a coherent system that supports not only precision prevention of RA, but also enables rapid diagnosis and very early precision therapy for those who develop arthritis despite our prevention efforts. Our systems will also enable clinical trials aimed at developing novel interventions aimed at prevention of RA.

Approach and implementation:

We will develop and use patient-driven digital tools and new diagnostics for identification of individuals at risk for RA. The at risk individuals will be provided with digital companions enabling prevention with lifestyle changes and surveillance of therapies aimed at prevention. We will test and implement therapies aimed at personalized prevention and very early and potentially curative therapy if arthritis occurs.
