A substantial amount of knowledge concerning sustainable consumption and production (SCP), relating primarily to the UN SDG 12, has been accumulated based on scientific research performed in the contexts of both post-industrial and emerging economies.
However, most of the SCP research thus far has neglected the exploitability of the knowledge beyond the economy under which the research was conducted; this void recently began to be criticized.
Therefore, the SCP4SCP project will tap into the opportunity of multi-lateral research for global SCP involving researchers from Sweden and the Philippines. The overarching aim of this project is to improve knowledge for accelerating the transformation to global SCP. The specific objective is to develop a collaborative network between researchers in Sweden and the Philippines.
This network will compare the different contexts and identify essential elements, challenges, opportunities and possible solutions for global SCP. This will serve as an essential basis for knowledge co-creation, transfer, and integration regarding global SCP.
To do so, in-person workshops will be held in each of the countries to understand socio-economic backgrounds and then discuss and clarify challenges, opportunities and possible solutions involving local practitioners with global perspectives.
The result will contribute to planning such projects that enhance knowledge for global SCP with a more holistic perspective.
