The early stages are the most critical in urban development projects.
The decisions taken here affect the design of the entire project, and by extension the cityscape for which they form the basis. At the same time, the basis for decision-making is often inadequate and time is short.
Important aspects such as sustainability and design often have to stand back to make way for practicalities and economic calculations.Generative design is a framework that makes it possible to create and evaluate hundreds of options in parallel, thus exploring a wider range of design concepts in a very short time.
Through generative algorithms and the interconnection of microservices, we have started work on a cloud-based platform that enables different actors in the construction sector to use generative design – without having specific expertise in programming and algorithmic design.Pilot projects in the platform have been carried out in collaboration with several of the Nordic’s largest AEC companies and the results have been satisfactory.
In conversations with these stakeholders, it has become clear that the value that the platform creates significantly higher when we connect the existing design logic with different types of location data.
In this project, we want to explore the possibilities of combining our existing design logic with GIS data, and based on the results of this review, begin the working on integrating geodata and generative design.
The project will thus consist of two parts – one part with information collection and compilation, and one part where we start the implementation. This project is a step in taking what is today an hourly consulting service to a SaaS-solution.
We are working towards a unique solution in the Swedish market that will continue to create greater value as more data is made available.
By connecting data and design, we create the right prerequisites for viable, buildable and sustainable housing and cities.
