The collaboration project Treesearch

Purpose and goal:

The Collaboration project Treesearch aims to build up and operate a world-leading research and innovation environment as a “National research platform” within the area of new materials and speciality chemicals from forest resources. Through collaboration between industry and academia, the project will develop competence and world-class knowledge combined with creating access to advanced research infrastructure (e.g.

ForMAX), for challenge-driven research and development to support industrial innovation and enable a sustainable biobased society. Expected results and effects: The following effects are expected from the implementation of Treesearch:

- an increase in knowledge and skills in academia and industry to strengthen Sweden´s innovation capabilities in the field - pioneering research results translated into high-tech innovations

- 250 young researchers with unique cutting-edge skills and tools to develop the future forest industry and related industries - support and leverage for research and innovation projects, e.g. BioInnovation - collaboration and coordination of the research carried out in the area Approach and implementation:

The project will conduct the activities and processes built up in 2017-2021. Direct activities within the project (called platform activities) are carried out in the three areas of education, conferences and knowledge integration as well as making research infrastructure available to support research projects and research programs carried out within Treesearch. A special objective within the project is to support the start-up of the ForMAX beamline at MAX IV.
