Construction clients - decoding digital transformation

Construction client has a central role as a leader as they create incentives for many other actors to invest in development in the society.

This role demands the construction client to be competent as they create conditions and are settning requirements for many other actors.As a construction client, you are an important player in the development of society and in the ongoing digital transformation. In order for digitalization to have an impact, insight and knowledge of opportunities and challenges are needed.

Constructors need to take responsibility, create conditions as the digital transformation places high demands on leadership and the ability to drive long-term change.The project “Byggherrelyftet” will form support to professional organizations.

In the project, we will build knowledge in a process where we also develop concrete methods and tools that will increase the ability to use, and order products and services in, digitization.The project will result in a process, a “knowledge journey”, that will be handed over to the association Byggherrarna for future processing and management.

We will build and test the process together with about twenty selected organizations.

These organizations will take part in the knowledge we bring in from ongoing initiatives within the Smart Built Environment as well as from current academic research and practice in the society.

The organizations will also act as pilots and test the methods and tools developed in the process.The project is considered to be of great strategic importance and should not have arisen in an open call, as no single actor or group of actors has an incentive to pursue the issue even if the entire sector and society will win on the project´s results.

Increased knowledge is seen as very strategically for the development of the entire sector and the project can contribute to increas the drive and ability to use digital services in the public construction sector.
