Accounting for Sustainability

Purpose and goal:

In the project, we have explored new ways forward in social and economic sustainability by, among other things, discussing what we as different actors mean by social efforts, and how it should be defined in the project. We have also mapped out what data is available for social efforts at the housing companies, as well as explored how we can count on these.

All actors have contributed to a more nuanced perspective of what should be included in an economic model for social initiatives and we have produced one of those. We have also identified areas with potential where there are still work to do. Expected results and effects:

The results and effects are: We have earned knowledge and understanding of the connection between social sustainability and economic effects (business and social). By creating change theory maps, we have acquired a clearer picture of how different effects are connected. We have improved our understanding of what data is available and how we can work to make it better.

We have developed a model that calculates financial outcomes based on a bunch of assumptions and input data, albeit with some limitations. We have identified obstacles where there is potential for further development. Approach and implementation:

The project has followed the plan that was intended, with working meetings for the entire working group once a month and meetings with the reference group. Between the meetings, we have had meetings for a more limited part of the group, where the participants varied depending on the stage the project was in. For the testing of the model all companies in the project tested the model for two cases.

In addition, we had an external test group that tested the model based on availability and layout. Sveriges Allmännytta has created a communication plan and the report will be launched in February.
