This educational project aims to communicate results from current research on social impact assessment (SIA) and methods for measuring, analysing and following up social aspects.
There is a need to develop work on social issues in spatial planning, especially in transport planning, which has long been dominated by technical and economic perspectives. It is about analysing distributional aspects as well as changes in relation to social values. The target group for this educational project is professionals in transport infrastructure and city planning.
The education consists of lectures by experienced researchers /teachers. Each course moment contains practical exercises where the course participants can relate to their work. Part of the teaching takes place via web-based channels.
A web-based course material will be designed and updated continuously.The project is based on national and international research on transport related social consequences.
Consequences can be about changes in accessibility, impact on the ability to realize transport mobility and activities, health-related consequences, economic consequences for individuals, and consequences for neighborhoods and communities.
This research relates to concepts such as transport poverty and social exclusion /inclusion as well as transport justice /mobility justice that address the effects and distribution of the transport system from a justice perspective with a focus on the needs and conditions of different groups.
