This project is a communication initiative to make the research conducted at Tarfala Research Station, TRS, more available.
Our goal is to create participant projects where a broad target group is involved through the concept Experiential Learning, to create a deeper understanding of climate change in the Arctic.
We will steer away from traditional one-way information channels and instead use the research station itself as our communication channel. We will open up the station for external visits where the target group can meet our researchers. We will concretize scientific facts into knowledge activities that anyone can absorb, comprehend and participate in.
This will make our project more inclusive, understandable and interesting.
Our target group is broad and includes local people, students and teachers from schools in Kiruna municipality, local actors such as Svenska Turistföreningen, Kebnekaise mountain station, Naturum Abisko, Swedish Lapland Visitor, Kiruna municipality, County Administrative Board and tourists passing TRS.
The research that will be communicated is mainly the climate-driven changes that we observe at TRS and have implications far beyond the Tarfala Valley.
The results we want to get out of the project are to create tangible knowledge, leading to real understanding, which we regard as a key issue to create the societal change required to meet the climate challenge.
