The Net

Purpose and goal:

With the help of the digital tool Nätet, the project has developed a collaboration model where professional fishermen are connected with public kitchens and private individuals in self-sustaining local distribution chains for the sale and consumption of fish that other consumers and producers can be integrated into. The model is a comprehensive solution that takes care of digital, financial, legal and logistical needs and can be reproduced in several cities to strengthen the local self-sufficiency rate of fish and other local foods in a competitive system.

Expected results and effects:

The collaboration model and its comprehensive solution give public kitchens an opportunity to buy directly from fishermen. Commercial fishermen and other local food producers receive a stable volume of orders that generate better profits locally

which provides incentives for new investment to further increase local sales. More people without strong purchasing power get access to local fish. The result is that the degree of self-sufficiency increases and the waste of resources decreases. In the long term, the model can be replicated in other locations around Sweden.

Approach and implementation:

The project has developed a collaborative model together with several cities on the west coast and a fishing fleet that accounts for the majority of Swedish fish. Through this collaboration, the project has been able to identify and jointly find solutions that work practically as well as legally and economically. This has resulted in a reproducible end-to-end solution that connects producers and consumers of fish in local, efficient market clusters.
