Purpose and goal:
314 inhabitants participated in the project and rode a bike to and from work during six weeks. The method was evaluated together with a researcher from the university of Lund through surveys before and after the test period and interviews.
Insights from the campaigns and the results from the evaluation have been compiled in a method guide. The guide has been spread to other municipalities and organizations through a live streamed webinar to which all Swedish municipalities were invited. The guide, recording from the webinar and more are to be found on the project website.
Expected results and effects:
300 new cyclists in Helsingborg of which 84 % will continue to do at least half of their commute journeys by cycle. 64 % of the participants stated that they recommended others, primarily work colleagues and family members, to start biking. More bikes and less cars in the city have a lot of advantages.
The evaluated method makes it easier and more efficient for other municipalities to make their own campaign.
Information about the experience of cycling in Helsingborg has been collected and will be used by the traffic planners to improve conditions for cyclists in the city. Approach and implementation:
The recruitment of total 314 test cyclists were done in three rounds, in spring and autumn 2022 and in spring 2023. An evaluation was made after every round to improve the work. The test cyclist answered surveys before and after the test period. A researcher interviewed a total of 27 participants in autumn 2022 and spring 2023.
The results from the surveys and the interviews were compiled in spring and autumn 2023. The method guide was written in fall 2023. A live streamed webinar was aired on the 21 of September where the results and method guide were presented.
