Purpose and goal:
The possibilities to plan ones trip with consideration to individual needs can increase the feeling of security in public transport. However, digital travel support are often perceived as deficient from an accessibility perspective. The project aims to increase the possitilities for travelers with varying needs to plan their journey by public transport.
The goal is to increase accessibility in public transport, and to support behavioral changes where more people choose to travel by this mode of transport. Expected results and effects:
In dialogues with relevant actors, as well as in the literature, a recurring challenge has been about the lack of standardised and reliable data in public transport from an accessibility perspective. The shortcomings can be seen as a critical obstacle in the transition to a more resource-efficient transport system and as a continuing challenge from a user perspective, where more and more people are in the risk of exclusion, by a development that may not sufficiently take into account the varying needs of travelers.
Approach and implementation:
Dialogues have been held with representatives of regional public transport authorities, representatives from organisations, authorities and application and software developers. Dialogues with international contacts within the EU project TRIPS have also been held. In addition, government reports, research literature and other relevant material have been collected.
The work is presented in a project report published within K2:s (Sweden´s national centre for research and education on public transport) report series.
