Purpose and goal:
The aim of the feasibility study was to investigate and understand the underlying reasons why children and young people do not walk or cycle to their training today, as well as provide suggestions for measures that lead to more sustainable travel. Through surveys, interviews and focus groups, several factors that affect the family´s choice of means of transport to and from training have been identified.
Based on this, a solution proposal has been developed that aims to break the routines and patterns that have been identified and move the norm for sports children towards active mobility. Expected results and effects:
Factors that affect the family´s choice of means of transport have been identified through survey, interviews and focus groups. Long distance, season, time of travel and actual time pressure are rational and obvious factors that influence. Behind these, however, are more.
The parents´ decision to drive or not is also greatly affected by convenience, perceived time pressure, established routines and a collective pattern that is difficult to break. The underlying values that drive this behavior are about security, control, consideration and love. Carrying your child is an act of love.
Approach and implementation: The feasibility study has worked on the basis of SKR´s Innovationsguide.
In the investigative phase, material has been collected through surveys of active floorball families, interviews with leaders and parents as well as municipal actors, RF/SISU Västernorrland and Västernorrland´s floorball association, group interviews with children and young peopleX made from collected material which has since been a guide for idea generation and the development of proposals for new solutions. These have then been ranked based on value and feasibility.
