Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

The objective for the Swedish project is to reach a higher level of automation, and thereby increase productivity and decrease development time, in robotized welding and AM. This development is essential to reduce development time and assure that parts are produced with the right quality and is necessary to enable a sustainable production in Sweden, both from an economical, societal and an environmental perspective.

Another objective is to strengthen Swedish industry and educate people in industrial AI methods for process control through the international collaboration in TANDEM. Expected results and effects:

The main objective for GKN is to implement the systems developed in the project to reduce development time and rejection rate of products produced by AM.

The main objective for VCE is to increase the level of automation by implementing the improved methods for offline programming and the intelligent control of the robot welding process.

Axson is a technology provider and will further develop existing products within welding automation and expand the current portfolio of products. Procada is a technology provider within TANDEM developing the AM process control technologies. Approach and implementation:

Two important demonstrators are located at Swedish companies, one regarding Jigless welding and welding of complex components at VCE and one within robotized AM at GKN. In addition, comes the knowledge and experience of robotized welding and sensor solutions from Axson and the experience and knowledge withing process monitoring and process control in robotized AM from Procada.

Project specifications will be defined in WP1 and implementation by the Swedish partners will mainly be conducted in WP2 and WP4. In WP4 the project findings are implemented in demonstrators at GKN and VCE.
