Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

The OBJECTIVE of CONSCIOUS is increase resource efficiency and enable circularity in use of polymer-based composite materials through technical and nontechnical innovations that enable: (i) traceability and separate processing of composites, (ii) reuse of composite components, (iii) building value chains for sustainable cascade reuse and recycling, (iv) trans-sectoral reuse in long-service-life applications, (v) efficient fraction separation and advanced reuse of recovered materials, and conscious handling of composite materials throughout their lifecycle.

Expected results and effects:

CONSCIOUS will result in maximized utilization of material value at all stages of composites’ life cycle, link the main flows of EoL composites to future main users of composite materials and create technical and market conditions for these links to work effectively. Approach and implementation:

The project has been carried out according to plan and also with slightly lower costs than expected. FKG and SBR became project partners in the finalized concept since one of the project´s focus points is on business models for circularity in the automotive sector.

Good contacts and cooperation with leading European organizations have been established during the project. For example, such organizations as CLEPA and EuCIA are project partners.
