Purpose and goal: Climate Smart Cities Challenge is a city-based open innovation initiative that invites a wide range of stakeholders to create consortias to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in cities and create a better future for all. Expected results and effects:
The result of this project expected to be a completed competition and preparation for the implementation of system demonstration in cities. The long-term effects of all efforts in the Climate Smart Cities Challenge are: -Scale up solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in cities and contribute to a better future for all
-Generate large-scale investments in cities -Create export opportunities for Sweden and participating countries Approach and implementation:
Challenge definition support (June - October 2021): Descriptions that summarize the most important challenges in the cities.
Competition and communication (August 2021 - February 2022): Clarification of competition criteria, dissemination of the competition and its operational management.
Capacity development cities (October 2021-December 2023): Strengthened understanding and capacity within the four cities to meet climate challenges.
System Demonstration (January 2022 - December 2023): The winning constellations prepare with the four cities for system demonstration
